Thursday's Vainpotty Happenings

May 01st, 2009 Comments(0)

Went over to Melissa's yesterday, dragged her out to Arab Street area, for the sole purpose of visiting this place called Jamal Kazura Aromatics. It's at 21 Bussorah Street. That place is absolutely divine! I loved it. It has jars and jars of oil fragrances, and some are even dupes of designer fragrances (Chanel, DKNY, Calvin Klein, etc). And even really gorgeous, exquisitely hand blown glass bottles imported from Egypt.

I'm beyond excited because... You know how ridiculously expensive fragrances are. I have serious issues parting with my moolah for a bit of fragrance and a whole lot of alcohol (which makes the perfumes smell... bad). And these are all alcohol-free! Not only that, the service was excellent. The man occasionally points you to certain fragrances, but never ever pushes. He patiently waits at the side for you to choose your fragrances, and serves you with a flourish even if you're not a big spender. And that's more than what I can say for departmental stores' sales assistants, who make you feel guilty for even daring to glance at the precious designer bottles.

So I got the 5ml version of 4 different scents, and only spent $20 ($5 each). Complete bargain for testing fragrances!

I did my own nails cos of all those goodies Jess gave me. They look blah. I'm no artist, I suppose.

Crazy Poofball

This crazy poofball had been licking my toes all day. Cute though you may be, please do not lick my toes. My toes are frankly quite disgusting, IMO.

On Customer Loyalty

March 26th, 2009 Comments(1)

I'm an exceptionally loyal customer. I love clean honest brands that deliver what they promise, and don't claim to do more than they can. I love sincere customer service, and recognise superior skills.

I buy the same products again and again for years if they work for me. Every month, I go to Kevin to get my hair cut, and Esther to get my brows trimmed. They do so quietly, without any attempt to hardsell anything.

In turn, I'm an impressive customer advocate. I wax lyrical about products and services I love, give glowing reviews, and convince people to try them.

I also work the other way. If I receive exceptionally bad service, I write in feedback. I expect something to be done. That's when I learned that single-cell organisms are being put in front of computers to make up banks.

Oh, Right

I have a blog.

Okaaay. Things have been a bit hectic lately. Be back later!

I Cut My Hair

January 22nd, 2009 Comments(8)

So my hairstylist, Kevin, had a mood swing. I've been pleading for him to cut my hair short for a few times and he refused, saying my neck is just too long. But when I went to him last week, fully intending to just get a trim so I won't look like a scraggly, homeless person, he was suddenly fully for the idea of short hair on me.

I don't care what you say. I love it. Some people are silly. They get so emotionally attached to their hair, it's ridiculous. It is just hair. It grows. There's no reason to freak out. I have short hair. Whee!

Last Day of Exams!

November 27th, 2008 Comments(1)

I barely studied. And I'm playing with my webcam.

Me, sans my usual makeup. Undereye concealer and blush only. My skin and I have declared a truce.

Okay, gotta run. Bye!

Camwhoring My GEO Lenses

Again.

They're way more comfortable than those disgusting Freshkons. I felt like tearing my eyes out after 3 hours while wearing Freshkons.

Bloody Gorgeous Jewelry

September 26th, 2008 Comments(3)

I love jewelry. It makes my heart race. :) The other day my aunt was just telling me I should use the last of the growth dividends that government is cashing into my bank to get myself some diamond earrings or pendant. Riiight. I'm so gonna find those at below S$225 at the next corner I turn.

At 8:45AM, I found myself at this website that just screams "Online Jewelry Store". And they have Diamond Stud Earrings for as low as $54.99. I must be hallucinating at this hour in the morning. I mean, they even have blue diamonds.

They look so pretty!

This website is incredibly easy to browse. You can search for the jewelry you want based on the precious metal or gem you are looking for. You can also search by price (important feature for the permanently broke like me)! And of course, if you're looking specifically for a certain jewelry, you can search by type. They have featured collections as well. Some of them caught my eye: Rings that Bling (Mmm, I like that!), and Birthstone Shop.

I love this aquamarine ring with diamonds. In white gold! Uber gorgeous! <3 It's 99 bucks!

Would you look at those Sapphire Earrings? The colour combination is simply stunning! I didn't know pink sapphires looked so good.

My Jewelry Box is offering free Fedex shipping for orders over $150. You get free gift packaging in gorgeous red jewelry boxes with white ribbons. They even have a generous 30-day money back guarantee. Only, they don't bloody ship outside of USA and Canada. *Mutters*

Yay Cosmetic Lenses

September 25th, 2008 Comments(0)

I junked my Freshkon Alluring Eyes lenses. It was nearing the end of its lifespan, and it was extremely uncomfortable to boot. Thank goodness I didn't pay a single cent for it.

I did, however, fork out 45 buckaroos for my Dueba DM21 Grey. The left lens was giving me problems, so I tried to get it exchanged. Sent back the lens and more than 2 months later, I still only have one lens. I am annoyed.

Enter my GEO Angel Browns that I'm kinda in love with. I'm not crazy about the dark limbal ring, but hey for $24 I'm not complaining!

WQ says he can't see any bloody difference. Gary says I look like a creepy doll. Stanley says I look like an owl. But hey, all my girls like it. Pfft, men! Unappreciative creatures.
