Back To Primary School

August 31st, 2005 Comments(2)

So we went back to primary school and got royally pissed off with all the retarded administrative thingies they had us do just so we could get our visitor passes. And even after that, we had to go to the office and let them know who we're going to see. And they tried sending us away in this manner:

Me: We're here to see the teachers.
Retarded clerk: For what purpose?
Me: Visitation?
Retarded clerk: What's the reason?
Me, getting pissed off: Do we need a reason? We're old students!
Retarded clerk: Oh, you're ex-students. (We so aren't ex-students. We're GRADUATES. But I don't blame you. Your brain obviously has no capacity for manners, much less vocabulary.) The teachers are not free, please come back tomorrow.
Me: No, we're not leaving.
Retarded clerk: Who do you want to see?
Me: Now you ask us. Mrs. Rama.
Retarded clerk walks out of the office and comes back: She'll be busy till 4. (It was 1:30 PM.) Come back again tomorrow.
Me: And when we come back tomorrow, you'll ask us to come back again the next day.

At that point, we totally ignored her and made our way to the classrooms. Were we just small back then or has everything gotten tinier? The toilet sinks are like at our thighs. Sheng Chuan, who has gotten so ridiculously tall, had to squat down to drink from the water cooler.

So at one point of wandering around the school, we found Mrs. Rama. Because the campus is so small. And she told us that the Retarded Clerk had the gall to announce that she sent us UP to her when she sent us away.

I love Mrs. Rama. She was (still is) my favourite teacher in the whole wide world. She's just incredibly terrific at her job because you can see how much she cares.

I got a big, fat hug from her before we left. Ah, so reminiscent of the time I got my PSLE results. She was elated that I got an A* for English when I thought my results were mediocre (going by my standards, anyway).

I'm so going back again. I can't forgive myself for not visiting her all these years!

On another note, I hope the current principal gets beaten up by a raging bonobo, but that isn't going to happen because no animal, chimpanzee or otherwise, would want to have anything to do with her. She's a hideous-looking, scheming, and racist wench. Even Mrs. Rama, who sees the good in everybody fails to see anything good about her. All the other teachers in our time had left because she's so terrible.

A Better Blog

August 29th, 2005 Comments(3)

I'm sick of reading attention-seeking blogs. Bloggers picking at each other like vultures, or revealing more and more skin, sometimes even both.

I like this blog, so refreshing, so powerfully evocative. And unutterably sad.

I forgot to blog this:

FREEDOM!!!!

For a few weeks, that is. Until my industrial attachment.

Meanie Ol' Me

August 26th, 2005 Comments(3)

So I checked out the much raved-about Project Superstar show.

At the risk of sounding like a cold-hearted bitch, I shall say that I think Weilian's singing isn't all that fantastic. While it is not bad, it is nothing near earth-shaking or whateverie, and I don't think it's enough to move anyone to tears, seriously. People are probably voting for him because he's blind, but I don't think being blind affects the quality of your voice much. If he breathes in just a tad harder when he's singing, the microphone would probably be sucked in through his nostrils. (This is my blog, I don't think I need to add a disclaimer to say that just because I'm criticising one blind person doesn't mean I have something against the blind, right?!)

And people who vote are insanely mental. Do you really think Mediacorp seriously want to promote young artists, and help them realise their dreams and all that crap? They want your money. They earn big bucks from you everytime you zealously SMS and pay that exorbitant amount. Does it benefit you in any way knowing that you've lined their already big fat wallets?

Honestly, people seem to spend money like it grows on trees nowadays.

It Sucked

After the test...
Me: 老师,如果这科我不及格,我要留班了!
Lecturer: 不会的啦!你不错嘛!

I think I'm gonna fail it! *Cries* It was a disaster. It turned out that it was 40 marks for the translation of 10 English sentences. Not simple sentences. Sentences like, "We are pleased to inform you that a letter of credit has been drawn up by our bank in your favour." are hell to translate. My command of Chinese, like most other Singaporeans', is mostly conversational, not formal. I took about 45 minutes to do all 10 because the aforementioned sentence was one of the easiest. Just imagine the rest.

The instructions were written entirely in English. And the next section was worse. 30 marks to initiate a business letter with all the nitty gritty details. They gave us addresses in English and expected them to be translated. Goodness knows what "Torch Road" is in Chinese! 手电筒路? Sounds so lame, but that's what I wrote. What's "artificial fir trees and lighting"?

And the next 30 marks was replying to the business letter we just wrote. I almost gave up. :( He was nice. He extended our time by 10 minutes, and that has never happened to me in my entire school life. But it still wasn't quite enough. Sigh.

Shush, I'm Studying!

August 23rd, 2005 Comments(7)

How come nobody ever messages me when I have nothing better to do, and when I need to study, the whole world suddenly needs me?

Cessy needs to stop losing her resume. I mean, who the hell goes running to a net pal whenever she needs a resume? Weirdo girl.

More Woes

Of all times, my eyelash curler has to go missing in action TODAY. After I put on my mascara! Shit, I leave it alone for one fuqn day because I wasn't planning to put gunk on my face, and it does this to me. *Cries*

Samantha, poker-straight-lashed girl. Blah.

God's Most Detested Daughter

August 16th, 2005 Comments(3)

If lucky girls are called "God's favourite daughters", then I must be the God's most detested one. Within 24 hours, I've:

  • Gotten a large, inflammed clogged pore on my nose. Not exactly a pimple, which is red with pus inside. It's red with a gigantic blackhead in it.
  • Had a good chunk of my skin from my thumb dug out with a pencil.
  • Lost a good few strands of my hair because they were knotted together terribly when I woke up, and I had to cut them off. No other way. Water, conditioner, whatever. Didn't work. I could break a few combs with that knot.
  • Got an irritated, angry, red left eye because the contact lens didn't agree with it.
  • Dropped my contact lenses about 100 times.
  • Had to crawl on the bathroom floor half-blind searching for them.

Off to school. Hopefully no other catastrophes want to take a liking to me.

Of Attire And Service

August 15th, 2005 Comments(0)

It's funny how service gets so much better when you're dressed in powersuits. :P Indeed, they give you much power. It happened in Ritz-Carlton. It happened in Swensen's today. We got all the managers serving our tables. *Laughs*

One presentation down. 3 more to go.
